  • Look out for opportunities to learn new things every day
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions about a topic you might not know much about yet
  • Seek opportunities to learn from a range of different people
  • Visit museums and other sites of interest around your city or town
  • Travel
  • Attend conferences or workshops in your area of interest
  • Keep a journal of new things you learn each day
  • Reflect on daily events consider what has gone well and what you might do differently next time
  • Read non-fiction
  • Look up the meaning of new words you encounter
  • Browse a library, or the internet, having a closer look at topics that interest you; you'll be amazed at the amount of information and new ideas you can acquire quickly this way
  • Develop your skim-reading skills
  • Read aloud with friends, or siblings, or start a book club in your school, or community and arramge time together to discuss a book you're reading
